    Intro
   Statistics is a science providing some necessary information and methods to build models and to make inferences from these models about events, phenomena and systems occurred randomly. Briefly, Statistics is the art of understanding and explaining data. Academic background in the Department of Statistics has been constituted to begin education for bachelor degree as of 2013. The goal of the Statistics Department is education, training and researches related to the basic areas and the main science disciplines of statistics known as Theory of Statistics, Statistical Information Systems, Applied Statistics, Operations Research, Probability and Stochastic Processes, Risk Analysis.

   Education Process
   The Department of Statistics degree program covers a 4 year period of 8 semesters. The academic year consists of two 16-week semesters, including examinations. The curriculum is prepared to respond the need of theoretical and applied statistics in interdisciplinary studies. Besides, teaching methods are designed to gain students the ability to solve the real-life problems. Students have to pass the compulsory courses indicated in the course plan and the minimum number of elective courses that must be taken. Students who have a minimum of 240 ECTS and a GPA of 2.00 / 4 are eligible to graduate from the department. In addition, students can benefit from a double major program in which they can continue their education in another section concurrent with the one they are reading, or a minor program in which they can partially participate in undergraduate study in another department that is close to the subject of the undergraduate departments.

   Working Areas
   After completing the program successfully and providing program qualifications, students receive Bachelor of Science degree and the title “Statistician”. Statisticians can be employed in public and private sectors. And also, graduates of statistics can do master degree in domestic or abroad universities; or can be academicians in universities.
